‘The art of relationships is . . . .  skill in managing emotions in others’
Daniel Coleman Emotional Intelligence.

Relationships have challenged us since we first began. They have caused grief and joy, sadness and delight. Relationships have inspired great works of art and music, they have fuelled the building of new civilisations and the destruction of empires.

So what is it about relationships that is so necessary for our existence? How is it that sometimes we do them destructively and other times brilliantly.

Over the next few months, we’ll explore many aspects of relationships as we take this journey together. By the end of this time, we will be wiser, more aware of the changes that need to take place in our lives to improve our relationships and have some idea of how to go about making these changes.

The scope will be vast. We will explore the relationship we have with ourselves and with others be they woman, man, child, relative, lover, co-worker, boss, peer group, neighbour or member of the same interest group or political party.

As a number of you may have a spiritual or religious belief, we will also explore the relationship you have with your creator or the life force that forms your belief.

We do not live in isolation on the planet – so what of our relationship with the natural world and how we care or don’t care for it. This too, we will examine.

If you would like to be a fellow traveller on this journey, every week a new blog will be posted exploring some of these ideas. For those of you who do choose to travel this time – welcome aboard! For those who wish to delay the journey, the information will be waiting when you are ready.
